The Nutbrown Review, led by Professor Cathy Nutbrown and currently collecting evidence from across the early years and childcare sector, provides a great opportunity to rationalise the huge numbers of qualifications which populate the early years sector.
It is recognised that one of the most important resources that impact on children‘s outcomes are the adults who support them in their early years settings. Therefore it is clear that Professor Nutbrown has a far-reaching and important brief to make recommendations to produce an early years workforce who are confident in delivering early years policies and make a significant difference to children’s outcomes.
The Department for Education is running a series of events in the coming months to hear the views of people from across the sector on how best to rationalise the qualifications currently on offer. You can also input through the Department’s online consultation response (closing date 24 January). It is only with the input of people who have experience of the current system, both on what we need to maintain and what can be safely removed, that a workable system can be developed.
