Today Professor Cathy Nutbrown published the interim report of her independent review to consider how best to strengthen qualifications and career pathways for people working in early education and childcare. You can find this report, along with a summary of the findings of her call for evidence, via www.education.gov.uk/nutbrownreview.
In her interim report, Professor Nutbrown outlines the three key areas that people have provided evidence on:
- The content of qualifications;
- The quality of teaching and how it links to good practice;
- How those who work in early education and childcare are recruited, how they are retained in the workforce, and how the qualifications available to them can support their career progression.
The interim report also considers views on the status of the profession, and how the foundation years, and those who work with young children are perceived by other professionals and by the public, as well as the value of leadership in settings.
The final report of the Nutbrown Review is expected to be published in the summer.
