I am currently in the middle of a NCSL Leadership pathways course and it has been extremely useful in allowing me, as a leader to self-reflect on my practice. I am very interested in your comment about ‘reflectie toolkits’ and how you use them. Could you elaborate further as to what these would look like or are there any useful websites that I can get them from?

Reflective toolkits within the setting are paramount to looking at what we do and how we can improve on practice. They give us an opportunity to discuss what best practice means to us as an individual and how we believe we can all achieve a vision together to provide an outstanding practice for all. These are completed on a monthly basis with the team and shared at room leader meetings or staff meetings.

As a governor of a nursery school and children’s centre I am interested in how changes to the Ofsted school inspection framework are going to drill down on the distinct elements of EYFS leadership now that inpsectors are no longer required to grade this phase of education.
Also as the inspection is data driven what has been done to take account of proposed changes to EYFS assessment framework from September 2012? With the loss of a nationally defined threshold it will be difficult for governing bodies and children’s centres advisory boards to monitor impact of EYFS provision in terms of children’s outcomes.
