Hi
I’m a qualified nursery nurse but for the last 8 years have been working with teenagers mostly teenage parents and young offenders. I now have 2 small children a two and a half year old, and a four month old. I am now thinking of coming back to younger child care when my son is a little older. I’m qualified to NVQ level 4 and I am a qualified trainer and NVQ assessor. I am hoping to find a pre-school so I can be term time only. My question is how are you finding all the changes are they better? I also wonder what is the pay like now it was pretty dismal but I’m hoping in 8 years it would have improved ?

where i understand the need to aid the parent pay for their child attending a nursery setting i am angry at the fact if you wish to offer more ie a music teacher ,you can not ask the parent for any money for this extra ,surly if a parents wishes to attend a setting and wants to come because of these extras and wishes to pay they have a right too In todays education our parents have a variety of choses ,so why not in early years NO SAYS THE HAMPSHIRE ,we must all be the same if we wish to take the grant

This is the problem the government keep going on about wanting highly qualified staff in EY childcare facilities. Only they don’t want to pay the appropriate salary. Most daycare settings would also be unable to fund a post grad or teacher unless the Goverment intend to act by putting funding in place. I have had staff that have completed a degree and then moved on because the salary is not there at the EY setting after all thier had work. They have also been committed as we all are in childcare, but sometimes we have to think about our own needs and family commitments. Good luck to your future

Hi with today’s announcement regarding 2yr old funding is it envisaged that places will be needed from the maintained nursery sector to accommodate this?

I am childminder and I can care for 2 children after school but my doughter will be 6 years old in September and I would like to know can I increase the number only after school children.

can yoy be put in the nursery even though your employed as teaching assistant is it legal and not to pay them as a nurserynure

Hi Cassie – every 3 and 4 year old gets 15 hours free childcare per week at the moment, and this will soon be expanded to include the most disadvantaged 2-year-olds, first 20% of them from next year, and then 40% of them from 2014.
