In response to the sector continuing to highlight the difficulties linked to information sharing the Department for Education and Department for Health Ministers (Sarah Teather and Anne Milton respectively) have asked for an “ information task and finish” group to be established. This group is made up of representatives from early years and health and has been tasked to:
- explore and reflect on how exemplar information-sharing practices already in train in many local areas can be further promoted;
- identify any ongoing barriers which different local partners experience to information sharing;
- make recommendations about how barriers to information sharing might be overcome.
The focus will be in information sharing between early years practitioners (e.g. leaders and staff in children’s centres, early education and childcare settings) and health professionals (e.g. midwives, health visitors, speech and language therapists). How information sharing of population data (e.g. new birth data) and individual data (e.g. about a particular child or their family) will be considered.
We will keep you updated with the progress of this group through this newsletter. If you have any comments which you would like this group to consider please send them to the foundations in box, header, “Information Sharing – Task and Finish Group”.
