From September 2013 the 20 per cent most disadvantaged two year olds will be eligible for 15 hours of free early education – roughly equivalent to 150,000 children. From September 2014 this will be extended to the 40 per cent most disadvantaged two year olds – around 300,000 children.
From February to May 2012, the Department for Education ran a series of events across England to inform local authorities and providers about the development of the offer, and allow them to ask questions about its implementation.
Each event involved a presentation about the entitlement followed by a question and answer session in addition to presentations from local authorities and providers that have participated in the trials of the offer that are currently taking place.
You can find the summary of the issues and queries raised by local authorities and providers at these events here.
